Academic writing
To review how to express your ‘voice’ in academic writing, do the following:
- Go to this page Expressing your voice in academic writing
Don’t let the somewhat old-fashioned design of the page put you off. The content is useful!
- Go through the analysis of the paragraph (i.e., the ‘annotations’) and decide to what extent the paragraph conforms to the PEEL (or PEAL) format.
- Make a note of your thoughts and any questions you may have so that we can discuss them in our next lesson.
Vocabulary
To help you acquire new business and general vocabulary, do the following:
- Use the word list at the back of your coursebook Career Express (B2) 2nd Edition (page 134). This will be helpful in our lessons, but can also be used to learn the vocabulary in the coursebook.
- Make (or complete, if you’ve already started) a list of new vocabulary from Unit 11.
- Use your preferred method for learning the new vocabulary (e.g. the Quizlet app, a vocabulary notebook or cards).
