Google’s self-driving car

Car manufacturing companies like Ford, Tesla and Audi, and also tech companies like Google, are currently racing to develop the car of the future: the self-driving car. In this video, you will hear about the different features of Google’s car and how it works.

Useful language

Driving language
Here is some of the useful driving language used in the video.


Technical language
Not surprisingly, lots of technical terms are used in the video. Use this activity to check out one or two of them.


Project management
In this activity, you can learn some useful expressions from the video which you can use to talk about projects.

Look at these extracts from the video.

  • Driverless car technology is in its early stages right now.
  • Good software will really make the difference to driverless cars.
  • It’s hard for many to make sense of how driverless cars work.

Everyday phrases
The presenter also uses some interesting colloquial expressions. Use this activity to make a note of them.
