Vocabulary

One of the most important aspects of the course will be the acquisition of new business and general vocabulary. The word list at the back of your coursebook Career Express (B2) 2nd Edition (page 134) will be helpful in our lessons, but also to learn the vocabulary in the coursebook as part fo your self-study. To get started, do the following:

 
  1. Make a list of new vocabulary from Unit 1. Use the word list at the back of your coursebook Career Express (B2) 2nd Edition (page 134).
  1. If you haven't already done so, install the Quizlet app on your mobile device and create a new account in this application. Use this app to create your own vocabulary sets for you to study. You can use the above-mentioned word list to help you. Make each set about 10 - 12 words or phrases as this is a good number for study purposes.
  1. Use this link to read about and practise a key area of vocabulary learning: Business collocations
  1. Use your coursebook - Career Express (B2) 2nd Edition - to do the following:
  • Go to page 10, Section 8: Learning vocabulary.
  • Do exercise B.
  • Bring your new vocabulary to class to share with a partner.

Reading

Use your coursebook - Career Express (B2) 2nd Edition - to do the following:

 
  1. Go to page 12, Case study: Internships at BMW.
  1. Do activities A, B and D.
  1. Use the Answer key on page 125 to check your answers where appropriate.
  1. Come prepared to work in groups to show your 'Selling yourself' video and receive feedback from your course colleagues.
