Note that the use of dictionaries is not permitted during the exam.
Exam Reading
To practise for the reading question in the exam, you can do the following:
- go to pages 74 – 75 in your coursebook Career Express (B2) 2nd Edition, and do activity A. Reading.

Exam Vocabulary
To go over the vocabulary covered in Units 5 – 8, you can use the following:
- your class notes and the Präsenzskript files made available in the Online Campus
- the vocabulary activities in Units 5 – 8 of your coursebook Career Express (B2) 2nd Edition
- the word list at the back of your coursebook Career Express (B2) 2nd Edition (page 134)
- the vocabulary activities in the Online exercises set in the self-study pages (1 – 7) here on this website (use this password: akkk4-xfs8r)
- any vocabulary exercises set in the self-study pages (1 – 7) here on this website
- the 4 quizzes on the Marketing communications and strategy page.
If you find studying with your mobile phone helpful, you can use the Quizlet app, to create your own vocabulary sets. Make the individual sets about 10 – 12 words or phrases as this is a good number to study at one time. You will probably need to create more than one for each unit.
Alternatively, use word lists or cards to learn the vocabulary required.
Exam Grammar

Exam Writing Task & Grading
In this section of the exam, you will be asked to look at a graph showing two sets of figures for s specific period of time. Using the information in the graph, you will need to do the following:
- Write a short report (150-200 words) summarizing the information.
- Use the following structure for your report:
- a very brief introduction
- the main body
- a conclusion
The grade you are awarded is based on the following:
- appropriate content selection
- overall grammatical and lexical accuracy
- varied and correct use of the language of trends
- correct use of language for concisely comparing and contrasting the selected information
- variety of sentence structures
- correct use of verb tenses and grammatical structures
- appropriate formal register (i.e. language style, choice of vocabulary)
- adherence to the word limit and structure required (min 150 words, maximum 200 words).
Exam Writing Task Preparation
To prepare for the writing question in the exam, you should use the following:
- your class notes and the Präsenzskript files made available in the Online Campus (especially lessons 5-7)
- any trend language and writing activities set in the self-study pages (1 – 7) here on this website.
